St. John the Baptist Catholic Primary School

A Message from Mrs Haley, Headteacher

Welcome to our school website.  I hope you will find it interesting and informative.  St John's is one of nine Catholic Primary Schools in the Wakefield Authority, working in partnership with the Leeds Diocese.

My name is Monica Haley and I have been the headteacher at St John's since January 1996.  My vision for the school is as follows:  I want St John's to be a welcoming, caring school, a family community working in harmony with Christ at its centre, offering all children a high quality education for life - an effective school.  As you would expect, since 1996 there have been a great many changes, some national, some local, which have impacted upon our school.  Our staff have taken many challenges on board but always with the intention that any changes should result in an improvement in the education of the children we teach.  For we firmly believe that Christ and the children entrusted to us are at the centre of all we do.

It has been with this in mind that teaching and support staff have worked hard to raise standards at St John's.  But at the same time we have never lost sight of the happiness and well being of the children, or of the need to provide a broad and balanced curriculum which will not only excite and capture the interest of our pupils but hopefully give them a life-long love of learning and a respect for others.
