A Message from Mrs Martin, Acting Headteacher

My name is Julie Martin and I was appointed as Acting Headteacher by the Governors from September, for this academic year. Over the past 2 years, as Deputy Headteacher, I worked closely with the previous Headteacher, Monica Haley, who had been at St John's since January 1996.
My vision for the school is as follows: I want St John's to be a welcoming, caring school, a family community working in harmony, with Christ at its centre. There are 3 words that spring to mind when I think of our school – we aim to Inspire, to Cherish and to Achieve.
We inspire our children by providing a curriculum that is creative, that responds and enables children to lead their own learning; that equips our children with the skills required for the 21st Century, for example, problem solving, higher order thinking skills, team work and co-operation.
We cherish our children by trying to look after and respect each other at all times. We aim to provide a loving environment, where all are inspired and empowered to achieve their true potential as unique and valued individuals. We care for our children as we would our own family; St. John’s is a place where every child matters.
By challenging and supporting all our children, we enable them to achieve and be the best that they can be. Our results in all Key Stages reflect the commitment of our teaching and support staff who work consistently hard to maintain our high standards and improve them even further.
The happiness and well being of our children is paramount and we hope to instil in them a life-long love of learning and a respect for both themselves and others.
